Klea in Concert

March 7th, 2014

Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center

Actress, singer, and comedienne Klea Blackhurst returns to her hometown of Salt Lake City for a one-night benefit concert engagement.

You can take the girl out of Utah, but you can’t take the Utah out of the girl! Find out how growing up in “the Buckle on the Jello Belt” prepared Klea for life in the Big Apple. From “A Cockeyed Optimist” to “The Yodeling Muchacha,” Klea in Concert is a wonderful celebration of the Great American Songbook, Broadway show tunes, as well as a few contemporary surprises. Klea’s philosophy of life will have you listening and laughing to the music and lyrics of Marvin Hamlisch, Jerry Herman, Cole Porter, the brothers Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, and many more.

Best known for her award-winning tribute to Ethel Merman, Everything the Traffic Will Allow, Klea is a consummate performer whom the Village Voice calls, “Intelligent, warm, and…a near ringer for Bette Midler.” Next Magazine says, “this amazing gal understands what entertainment is all about!”

All proceeds benefit the Department of Theatre Scholarship Fund. Klea is a graduate of the prestigious Musical Theatre Program, a College of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumni, and recipient of the Alumni Association Founders Day Award.

Reserved seating tickets are $34. VIP tickets which include reserved seating and an exclusive reception with Klea immediately following the concert are $64. Students of the University of Utah may purchase two tickets for $20 each with a valid U card. (Please note that Arttix charges an additional convenience and handling fee for each ticket purchased.)
