Scholarships & Financial Aid for Prospective Students
We understand that attending college is a big financial commitment. Below is information on three pathways for seeking financial support to pursue your education here at the University of Utah’s Department of Theatre. These are not the only ways to fund your education, but these are the three that are linked directly to our department.
University Merit Scholarships
The University offers a number of excellent merit-based scholarships to incoming and transfer students. To qualify for these scholarships, you must apply for admission to the university by December 1st. That’s it. Your application to the U will also be your application for merit scholarships.
Need-Based Scholarships
To receive priority consideration for need-based support, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1st. Need based support includes a mixture of scholarships, grants, and subsidized loans. (Submitting a FAFSA application does not mean you must accept a loan. It will just tell you if you qualify for lower-interest, subsidized loans.)
Department Scholarships
To be considered for Department of Theatre Scholarships, you must apply to the University of Utah and submit a department scholarship application via Campus Information Services (CIS) by February 24th. We cannot award department scholarships until a student has been accepted to the University, so we strongly encourage you to apply to the University as soon as possible.
How Do You Apply? It’s as easy as 1-2-3!
1) Apply to the University of Utah. Within 5-10 days you will receive your University Network Identification Number (UNID). If you apply by December 1st, your application will be reviewed automatically for merit scholarship eligibility.
2) Complete the FAFSA. This will allow you to be considered for need-based scholarships, work-study, and other forms of financial aid. If you apply by February 1st, you will receive priority consideration for need-based scholarships and other types of financial aid at the University of Utah.
3) Complete the General Scholarship Application for the Department of Theatre by February 24th. You must have a UNID (see step 1 above) to complete the General Scholarship Application for the Department of Theatre.

- Be declared Theatre majors,
