Assistant Professor 

A. Raheim White, Head of Movement in the Department of Theater at the University of Utah, stands at the forefront of wellness and mindfulness, seamlessly integrating their expertise as a specialist, keynote speaker, dance choreographer, and author.  Raheim’s academic journey includes earning their MFA from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, both in Dance with performance and choreography focuses, along with a formative semester at the Taipei National University of the Arts.

Raheim is an active member of Columbus, OH-based interdisciplinary company, Brother(hood) Dance! and New Orleans-based performance company, CabinFever. Raheim has also been an ensemble member of internationally touring companies, Seán Curran Company and Lucky Plush Productions, along with nationally touring RAREDanceWork, Project44, Trainor Dance, and The Fly Honeys. They have also performed/worked with Cynthia Oliver, Endalyn T. Outlaw, Fernando Melo, Malcolm Low/Formal Structure, RG Dance Projects/Ruben Graciani, Jennifer Manson, Paul Singh, Kirstie Simson, Catherine Cabeen, Michael Clark, Germaul Yusef Barnes, Dr. yaTande Whitney V. Hunter, Xiao-Xuan Yang-Dancigers, and Anuradha Nehru.

As a choreographer, Raheim’s work has been presented at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, French Institute Alliance Française, Kansas City Repertory Theater, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, The Den Theater, Dance Africa Pittsburgh, Harlem Stage, and MAD Dance Festival in Atlanta, GA.  

As a keynote speaker, Raheim has presented on topics of transformational leadership, student wellness, and personal empowerment to Dance/USA, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois State University, and North Carolina Central University.

For their work as a thought leader, Raheim has publications in Thrive Global, Authority Magazine, WellnessVoice, VoyageATL, and Windy City Times. 

Raheim has also served on faculty at Atlantic Acting School (NYC), The Actor’s Gymnasium (Evanston, IL), The Joffrey Ballet Summer Dance Intensive (Chicago), Forward Momentum Chicago, and Dance New Amsterdam (NYC).

With dual certifications as a 200-hr yoga instructor and social-emotional learning facilitator, alongside credentials as a Reiki Master-Teacher and Akashic Record Reader, Raheim embodies a holistic approach to personal and collective liberation. Their impactful work within Chicago’s LGBTQ community has not gone unnoticed, earning them a coveted Windy City Times’ 30 Under 30 Award.
