Statement of Purpose

Open Door Productions (OpenDoor) is dedicated to conceiving and producing theatrical works to promote inclusivity and collaboration within the student body of the University of Utah. The goal of OpenDoor is to provide increased performance opportunity and freedom of expression to the student artist community. OpenDoor strives to create a positive and supportive environment where all students feel respected and welcomed.

Stage Managers at the U (SMU) has been created to further students’ education by providing real-life experiences with professionals in the field of stage management in all realms of performance, hosting various outings to further community building, build and adapt skills that can be used through all walks of life.

Performing Arts Designers at the U (PADU) is a student org sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and the Department of Theatre.Our mission is to empower members of the organization to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the design elements involved in theatre, film, television, dance, concerts, opera, conventions, expos, architecture, art installations, and the development of new works. Additionally, we aim to broaden our members' professional networks and enhance their skill sets through internships, workshops, travel, and other educational experiences. We are a collection of multicultural designers and creatives who seek to develop performing arts design across the campus and the community. We offer numerous workshops throughout the academic year, as well as travel, networking, job, and design opportunities. Membership is open to any University of Utah student. PADU is proud to be the recipient of Student Leadership & Involvement's New RSO of the Year Award for the 25-26 academic year. 

The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is a student group established to promote communication and interaction among students, faculty, staff, and administrators in the Department of Theatre.

The Committee is both a social and academic organization and as such it creates involvement opportunities, encourages participation in department activities, and hosts events open to all University of Utah students.
