Assistant Professor
David Eggers comes to the University of Utah directly from NYC and surrounding areas, where he has worked extensively for more than twenty years, most recently as associate director and/or associate choreographer for four Broadway shows: In Transit, Living on Love, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and Anything Goes.
Other credits as associate director and/or associate choreographer include: Two Gentlemen of Verona for the Public Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park, NYC; My One and Only and Damn Yankees for the annual Roundabout Theatre gala, NYC; Little Shop of Horrors and Bernstein on Broadway for the Kennedy Center, D.C.; On the Town for the Boston Pops and Tanglewood, MA; Mamma Mia for the Hollywood Bowl, CA; Lady Be Good, The Band Wagon, and I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road for City Center Encores, NYC; Ever After for Paper Mill Playhouse, NJ; Diner for the Signature Theater, D.C.; My Paris for Goodspeed Opera House, CT and Long Wharf Theatre, CT; three staged concerts for Lyrics & Lyricists series for the 92 Street Y, NYC; as well as developmental workshops of the musicals Lautrec in Paris, Night Shift, and Diner.
As a director and choreographer, Mr. Eggers mounted the first national tour of the Broadway musical, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Murder for Two at the Mason Street Warehouse, MI; as well as the NYC developmental workshops of new shows Over My Dead Body and The John Wilkes Booth Performing High School for the Arts Presents The Least Offensive, Most Inclusive Play Ever: And After School Special, NYC.
He choreographed Annie for Teatro de los Insurgentes, Mexico City, Mexico; I’m Still Getting My Act Together for the Laguna Playhouse, CA; Possibility Junkie for Theater for the New City, NYC; Depression: the Musical, for the Fringe Festival, NYC; and The Last Starfighter, for the New York Musical Theatre Festival, NYC.
As a prior performer, Mr. Eggers has been in ten Broadway musicals, including Billy Elliot, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Pajama Game, Curtains, Wonderful Town, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Wedding Singer, Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun, and Saturday Night Fever. He also performed in regional, summer stock, and touring, and international products. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, and has shared his knowledge and expertise in acting, dance, and performance master classes and workshops throughout the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut area.
