Adjunct Instructor
Stephen Faulk is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Utah's Department of Theatre, where he teaches applied voice and specializes in musical theatre styles, with an emphasis on classic and early American repertoire.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Faulk holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia Southern University. Following his graduate studies, he relocated to New York City, where he established himself as a leading tenor in early musical theatre and operetta over more than a decade of performance. Described by the Operetta Research Center as an "Operetta Crusader," Mr. Faulk has performed and recorded over 50 leading tenor roles in rarely-heard and historical works, becoming a sought-after interpreter of both Gilbert & Sullivan and the operettas of Victor Herbert.
His extensive discography includes principal roles in The Pirates of Penzance, H.M.S. Pinafore, Melody, Dryad’s Kiss, Miss Springtime, The Fortune Teller, Clo-Clo, Blossom Time, Have a Heart, and The Little King. On stage, he has appeared in more than 20 different Gilbert & Sullivan productions, including The Mikado, Ruddigore, Iolanthe, Utopia, Limited, and The Yeoman of the Guard, as well as starring in Victor Herbert works such as Naughty Marietta, Dream City, Cyrano de Bergerac, and Eileen. His musical theatre credits include roles in Candide, Phantom, Kiss Me, Kate, Guys and Dolls, Annie Get Your Gun, Brigadoon, and My Fair Lady.
Mr. Faulk has performed with esteemed companies including The Ohio Light Opera, Light Opera of New York, Augusta Opera, Victor Herbert Renaissance Project Live, Los Angeles Operetta Foundation, Savannah Philharmonic, North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, and Hale Centre Theatre, among others.
