Adjunct Assistant Professor 

Marilee C. Wilson is a full lyric soprano and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Utah’s Department of Theatre, where she specializes in teaching Musical Theatre. Additionally, she serves as an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Utah Valley University, where she instructs both group and individual voice lessons for musical theatre majors. At Utah Valley University, she also teaches classical and contemporary commercial music in the Department of Music.

Originally from Utah, Dr. Marilee C. Wilson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Vocology from the University of Utah. She also earned both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the same institution. Dr. Wilson has been mentored by leading experts in vocal pedagogy and voice science and completed coursework in vocology through the Summer Vocology Institute, sponsored by the Utah Center for Vocology. She has also finished all three levels of Contemporary Commercial Music training from the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, and is a graduate of the Lovetri Institute for Somatic Voicework, Levels I – III.

As a teacher and scholar, Dr. Wilson has presented at various esteemed institutions and organizations, including the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the University of Utah School of Music, and the Utah Theatre Association (UTA). She currently serves as President of the Northern Utah NATS Chapter and is a member of the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA). Her voice students have achieved notable success, pursuing performance careers in film, television, international Broadway tours, regional theatres, cruise lines, and amusement parks, and earning top honors in vocal competitions.

In her performance career, Dr. Wilson has portrayed a range of roles, including Mother in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, Christmas Future in Leavitt & Buck’s A Christmas Carol, Alidora in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Bridesmaid in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Her musical theatre credits include Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly, Laurey in Oklahoma, and Grandma Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof.

Dr. Wilson resides in South Jordan, Utah, with her husband Reid. They are proud parents of two children and grandparents to five wonderful grandchildren.
