Adjunct Assistant Professor
Jamie Baer Peterson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Eastman School of Music. She began her opera career as an apprentice with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. During her career as an opera singer she has performed throughout the United States, Canada and France, singing leading roles with L'Opera de Nice, Santa Fe Opera, New York City Opera, Central City Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Minnesota Opera, and more. She was a frequent guest soloist performing both classical and music theatre selections with the symphonies of Dallas, Atlanta, Hartford, Omaha, Waterbury, Princeton, and Westfield, NJ; and in two national broadcasts with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. No stranger to musical theatre, Jamie often performed and recorded with Encores! at City Center in NYC, and is on their cast recordings of Out of This World, Call Me Madam, and Louisiana Purchase. Favorite regional musical theatre roles include Amy in Company, Magnolia in Showboat, Nettie in Carousel, and many Gilbert and Sullivan roles.
Jamie has taught voice to students of all ages at the Wharton Institute of Performing Arts in New Jersey, Monmouth University, SUNY Fredonia, Utah Conservatory, and in her own studio for over 25 years. After 30 years in NYC and NJ, she and her family moved to Salt Lake City in 2019. Jamie is currently on the faculty at the University of Utah in the Department of Theatre's Musical Theatre Program.
