“It's a privilege to work with these powerful BIPOC women at different stages of their professional journeys," said artistic director Jerry Rapier. "And it's a joy that they overlap and intersect in 'FULL COLOR.'”
FULL COLOR is the third installment of Plan-B Theatre’s Color Series. "…OF COLOR" (2019) and "LOCAL COLOR" (2021) featured fictional characters in fictional worlds, influenced by the playwrights’ personal experience. In "FULL COLOR," each playwright writes in first person, combining writing acumen with personal experience.
Eight BIPOC actors speak the truths of their eight BIPOC playwright counterparts, in a bold declaration that their experiences are not monolithic, dispelling stereotypes, and presenting the depth and breadth of BIPOC experiences here and now in Utah."Although seven of the eight 'FULL COLOR' playwrights have been working in the theatre for years, they each joined the TACWW as first-time writers,” explained Rapier. “TACWW was founded in 2017 to provide local BIPOC artists the opportunity to tell their stories. And five of the eight FULL COLOR playwrights are founding members! It's been a joy for me to get to know each playwright in a different way. And I have had the unique pleasure to watch them each get to know themselves, and each other, differently.”
