“O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!”

Betrayed by family and banished from her home, the noblewoman Prospera flees to a remote island with her daughter Miranda. Years later, when a terrible storm leads to a shipwreck, the same people who betrayed Prospera find themselves stranded on her shores. This is no coincidence: Prospera is a magician, and her vengeance has been a long time coming. But the castaways and island residents have stories of their own — and for some, a different kind of magic may be brewing.

One of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, The Tempest is a tale of spells and shipwrecks; a story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness; and a meditation on the power and persistence of art.
