Undergraduate Programs

In addition to our outstanding Bachelor of Arts degree program in Theatre Studies (TS), we provide highly challenging, engaging, and focused Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in Actor Training (ATP), Musical Theatre (MTP), Performing Arts Design (PADP), Stage Management (SM), and Theatre Teaching (TT).

The Department of Theatre offers multiple opportunities to audition or interview for admission into our Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. BFA Actor Training (ATP) & Musical Theatre (MTP)

NATIONAL UNIFIEDS

Meet our faculty at one of the National Unified audition events.

  • January 23–24, 2027:  New York City (Pearl Studios) 
  • February 1–4, 2027: Chicago (Palmer House) 
  • February 6–7, 2027: Anaheim (Anaheim Hilton) 

ON-CAMPUS AUDITIONS

PARTNER RECRUITMENT EVENTS

The Department of Theatre also recruits at several partner events throughout the year.

If you complete an audition at one of the following events, we will accept it as your final artistic audition for the University of Utah. Following your audition, you will complete the University of Utah academic application and our supplemental program application.

BFA Theatre Teaching (TT)

Applicants to the Theatre Teaching program do not attend scheduled interview days.

Instead, interviews are arranged individually after all required application materials have been submitted. Once your materials are received, our faculty will contact you to schedule your interview.

Deadlines

We strongly recommend that you apply to the U by December 1, 2026. 

Students who apply to the University of Utah by this date are eligible for a variety of benefits, including the following:

  • Automatic Consideration for all university merit-based scholarships
  • Automatic Consideration for the For Utah scholarship, which covers eight semesters of tuition and mandatory fees (UT residents only)
  • Discounted Tuition for students from participating states and U.S. territories through the Western Undergraduate Exchange

*Academic Applications need to be completed by December 1, 2026 to be considered for Merit Scholarship Consideration, including WUE. No exceptions.

Due to limited class capacity and the structure of our programs, transfer decisions must be handled on a case-by-case basis.
